Greetings Gathnetters!,
I'm in a somewhat punny mode, so you'll have bear with.
First off, Jacqui thought of something very fun for breakfast... we
had crepes, with a smorgasbord of fillings from blueberries to bananas
and chocolate. However, I did start making French and "Crepe" puns,
most of them pretty bad, just to make my family groan. Things like
"Why do French Christians have to change their eating habits after the
Resurrection? (answer: "The dead shall be raised in-crepe-able". ) I
hate to say it, but that was one of the better ones. Of course, when
I asked Jacqui if Crepes had anything to do with the next History Unit
(she often coordinates menus with topics in History). She said "no",
just the Crimean War. I assumed she was making another joke, "Creme-
ian" War, but she claims she never would have said that.
Anyway, we've been having a nice Labor Day weekend by going...
Nowhere!!! ... it's great. I did take the kids swimming, but no long
trips, just working on various house things Sat and today.
We had a nice visit by "Uncle" Urban and "Aunt" Ardela (I put in
quotes, because we've always called them Uncle and Aunt, though we're
really like 2nd cousins once removed). They also had their Grandkids
Hannah and Nathan with them. (They are Valerie's kids). I guess I'm
feeling a bit like my parents would describe when their various nieces
and nephews would arrive after a while, all grown up. Or perhaps the
"littlest" Crissy nee Ecklebarger, who visited at Mom and Dad's
Anniversary with her excellent husband Edgar. Anyway, they both have
grown so much, and I had a lot of fun talking with Nathan, who's
interested in various computers, etc, though mostly in terms of Games
and things at the moment.
I've got several music requests on my plate, which I've not gotten
to do much with, as all my creative energies have been spent on a new
work project.
Lauren has started getting interested in knitting, and her grandma
has gotten her started on a scarf. Eliott has been getting very
interesting in various sports, both watching and playing. He
especially likes playing baseball.
Josiah is starting school in earnest this year, though he's been
really pushing hard to read. He seems to be fascinated by reading
words.
Enjoy your holiday!
