Dear Gathnetters,

I was talking to the people who installed my solar system this morning
about a proposed system for Jim's house. They said.... did you see you
house in our web page? Well, I couldn't help but look it up when I got
home and presto... there it was at the following address.

These people are neighbors of mine and also sold me my tractor years
ago. All of my business dealings with them have been very positive.

BTW, The system is working wonderfully. During these very hot months..
Aug and Sept, here in San Diego area I have had to use some grid power
to keep the a/c's going expecially during evening hours. I expect to
off set this strongly in the winter and spring months as I never have
had to use the a/c during these times. We get a whole year to balance
the use and giving of power to the grid so these bumps in the hot times
are averaged out over the winter times. In fact I am thinking of doing
some electric space heaters during the winter to save on propane usage.

It is good to have Jim back home these last couple of weeks. He had
been traveling with the USS Makin Island from Mississippi to San Diego
around the tip of South America, serving as a Lt. The ship is going to
be commissioned in October here is San Diego which should be quite an
event. The ship is huge. Sue and I went to meet it when it came in to
port and as we were watching, there was the ship's mast over the tree
tops slowly coming into the carrier dock at North Island. All of the
hands who were not involved with the operation of the ship were standing
at attention around the flight deck in their dress whites. It was a
beautiful sight. As the ship docked, there was my son dressed in
Officer White directing the seamen to make fast the ship to the dock.
They had a band playing and the captain was interviewed on the local TV
just prior to landing. All in all a spectacular time. I enjoyed
especially the homecoming joy demonstrated by crew members and their
loved ones. Dads seeing their little ones after a long absence, Very
long hugging and kissing between loved ones. It was heart warming
especially after listening to all the horrible news about the
disintegration of families in this nation.

Love to you all,

der Altgrossvater
