At our last meeting, someone mentioned that Marxists see destroying the family as key to establishing Communism.  This is not strictly true.  Marxism is about the revolution.  When the soda machine isn't working, sometimes kicking it can get results.  Marxists believe that social progress is made only by a cycle of destructive revolution.  Communism is not the ideal, many of its problems were forseen by Marx.  But it is the next step, and once established, another revolution will bring the next stage.  That is their vision, anyway.  

So the revolution is the thing.  Marxists try to destroy the current order regardless of what it is.  If the current order is decadent at its core (as in Brazil), they preach family values.  If the current order is straight laced (as in Russia), they preach decadence.
