Cosmic Take Down
"On Gittith" - a musical instrument from Gath, i.e. based on Philistine
technology. My guess would be a steel strung harp.
To “take down” an adversary is to humiliate them. In this psalm, the adversary,
the Enemy, is humiliated when God puts lowly Man in charge of his former
domain.
- 8:1 "how excellent is Your name" - the LORD is the greatest.
"Your name in all the earth" rhymes with "Your glory above the heavens".
- 8:2 "from the mouth of babes You have ordained strength" - mere children
will defeat the Enemy. Matthew 21:16
"still the Enemy" - this ultimate take down will leave him stunned.
Why does the Enemy seek vengeance?
Mankind is but "babes and sucklings" compared to the mighty angels.
The Enemy and Avenger is Lucifer/Satan, who is consumed
with GDS (God Derangement Syndrome) and every thought and intention
of his heart is to destroy what God had made.
- 8:3 "heavens the work of Your fingers" - the arrangement of stars
and galaxies was determined by the ripples on the surface of the
quark confinement. David visualizes the arangement as finger work.
The ripples are a
sound, and I visualize Aslan singing them
into existence in "The Magician's Nephew".
- 8:4 "What is man?" - i.e. what is the significance.
"mindful of him" rhymes with "visit him". Job 7:17-18
Hebrews 2:6-8
- 8:5 "a little lower than the angels" - Hebrew חָסֵר is to be less
or fall short. It can refer to time as well: the status
of Man will change. "The creation waits in eager expectation for
the revelation of the sons of God." Romans 8:19
- 8:6 "all things under his feet" - all things on Earth are under
the dominion of man. Genesis 1:28, Psalm 104:24-25
But *all* things are under the dominion of Christ. Ephesians 1:22
- 8:8 "the paths of the sea" - Isaiah 43:16 Matthew Maury became
the father of Oceanography studying and mapping these paths.
