Psalm 13

Lighten Mine Eyes

• 13:1 - "How long" - Revelation 6:10 "You forget me" - God seems to have dropped your case. Psalm 10:1
• 13:2 - "sorrow in my heart daily" - clinical depression Psalm 6:3
• 13:3 - "lighten my eyes" - give me hope. Just knowing what to do next brings the first lifting of depression. "The precepts of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes." Psalm 19:8
• 13:4 - "my Enemy say, I have prevailed" - perhaps a leading enemy of David, but also the Enemy of our souls. Keeping us depressed and unfruitful is a victory for the Enemy. "those that trouble me rejoice" - "Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight." Psalm 9:19
• 13:5 - "trusted in Your mercy" - "Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him." Psalm 32:10 "my heart will rejoice" - gil: spin around!
• 13:6 - "sing to the LORD" - "That I may tell of all Your praise In the gates of the daughter of Zion." "because You have dealt bountifully" - "I will rejoice in Your salvation." Psalm 9:14 The word is shir: sing. But this is also towdah - praise before the answer is manifested. Consider the Example of Paul and Silas. Acts 16:25-34

  So when your life is getting tough,
  And things are looking kinda rough,
  Just say, "That's it! I've had enough!"
  And start to praise the LORD.
