Israel invented complaints to stall negotiations,
priest charges 

Jerusalem, Jul. 29 (CWNews.com) - The Israeli foreign
ministry concocted complaints against Pope Benedict
XVI (bio - news) because the government is not
prepared to conclude negotiations on a
juridical-financial accord with the Holy See,
according to a Franciscan spokesman in the Holy Land. 

Father David Jaeger charged that Israeli officials
provoked a diplomatic crisis with the Vatican to
distract attention from their withdrawal from
negotiations that were scheduled to resume on July 25
in Jerusalem after a lengthy hiatus.
