Jim,

In an accompanying article, the last sentence states:

"The consensus of scholars is that the four canonical
gospels — Matthew, Mark, Luke and John — were probably
not written by any of the original disciples or
first-person witnesses to the life of Jesus, although
they were probably written within the first century."

This is simply NOT true.

As for the so-called Gospel of Judas, there are a LOT
of "gospels" and "epistles" floating around. It was
the Catholic Church which decided which were the
inspired word of God and which were not.

Protestants are scared to touch that subject because
it proves the authority of the Church. 

But without the authority of the Catholic Church, the
"gospel of Judas" is no more or less valid that the
Gospel of St. Matthew.
