Way back in the '70s when Pop Prophecy ("88 Reasons why Jesus will return
in '88", etc) was making a big deal out of Israel returning to the land ("You
can read the Bible instead of your morning newspaper"), McGee pointed out that
the current situation was a long way from fulfulling that prophecy.  E.g., most
of the Jewish population lives in the US, not all tribes present, secular
government, etc, etc.  Sensational interpretations of prophecy are popular;
debunking them is not.  1948 Israel is a foreshadowing, not the fulfillment.
