Crisis Magazine to Go Digital
WASHINGTON, D.C., JULY 20, 2007 (Zenit.org).- After 25 years, Crisis Magazine will end its print publication and move entirely online.
Brian Saint-Paul, Crisis' editor, told ZENIT: "The internet component is one we've wanted for a long time, but we never had time for it in the past.
"Now, by moving to solely an online presence we will be able to reach a much broader and younger demographic than we have been able to previously."
The magazine's parent company, Morley Publishing Group, announced Tuesday that beginning Sept. 1, TheCatholicInsider.com will host Crisis magazine on the Internet.
The site will feature special reports, news, Web videos, guest columns and a blog staffed by writers and commentators representing various opinions and backgrounds within Catholicism.
"The magazine industry is in decline," Saint-Paul said in a statement. "With this transition, we're actually able to expand our mission, activities and readership while also cutting the exorbitant costs of a print magazine. This is a real win-win situation for us."
Crisis Magazine, currently with 18,000 subscribers, was founded by Michael Novak and Ralph McInerny 25 years ago.
