latest Florida poll for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senator.  Rubio and
Crist each have 43%.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi will not permit votes in the House on controversial
bills in 2010 unless they are first passed by the Senate.  Facing
probable losses in the 2010 elections, she is trying to shield
vulnerable members from having to cast liberal votes.

New polls show Republicans continue to lead for Congress in 2010.  Only
28% strongly approve of the job President Obama is doing in office,
while 40% strongly disapprove.

The outcome of Obamacare is in the hands of (alleged) pro-life Democrats
in the Senate and House.  Most Democrats who say they are pro-life only
give lip service to opposing abortion.

Senator Lieberman has forced the Democrats to remove the "public option"
and Medicare buy-in for younger workers.  But Senator Ben Nelson is
unwilling to take a firm stand to stop public funding of abortion on
demand.

Some liberals are unhappy with the latest Senate version of Obamacare.
But their threats to vote against the bill are probably empty, as the
bill still greatly expands government control over health care.

The 9th U.S. Court of Appeals heard oral arguments from the Thomas More
Law Center that a resolution passed by the San Francisco Board of
Supervisors that condemns Catholic beliefs on homosexuality is
unconstitutional.  The case was dismissed by a federal district court
and a 3-member panel of the Court of Appeals, but the full Court voted
to hear the case.

The resolution called Catholic moral beliefs "insulting to all San
Franciscans," "hateful," "insulting and callous," and "absolutely
unacceptable." But the U.S. Constitution prohibits official expressions
of hostility to a religion or its doctrines.

Former Secretary of Education William Bennett has written a new book,
The True Saint Nicholas:  Why He Matters to Christmas.  St. Nicholas was
a bishop in the 4th century who distributed gifts to poor children on
Christmas Eve, thereby becoming the model for Santa Claus.
