Senator Ben Nelson, whose vote switch made possible the Senate passage
of the Obamacare Bill, would lose re-election 61%-30% if the election
were held today.  Just 17% of Nebraska voters approve of the deal he
made for $100 million in pork.

A national poll found the mood of the country decidedly conservative.
By a 3 to 1 margin, voters prefer a smaller government with fewer
services and lower taxes.

President Obama's negative ratings continue.  Republicans once again
have the upper hand in races for Congress.

Benefits:

The public opposes Obamacare 55% to 40%.  Seniors oppose the legislation
63% to 31%.

The absence of a formal "public option" will not deter House liberals
from voting for Obamacare.  The bill converts private insurance
companies into public utilities, which will be allowed to do only what
the government tells them to do.

The outcome will hinge on whether pro-life Democrats in the House vote
against the Senate version of the bill that provides federal funding of
abortion.  In the Senate, there were no actual pro-life Democrats.

A nativity scene in Macomb County, Michigan was banned after a complaint
from the Freedom From Religion Foundation.   The display had been on a
60-foot median of a road since 1945.

Longtime nativity scenes in Inverness and Boca Raton, Florida were
eliminated out of fear of litigation.  The Alliance Defense Fund sent
letters to both cities to explain that the displays were completely
constitutional.

Senate Republicans have blocked, at least temporarily, the nomination of
a former ACLU lawyer for a federal district judgeship in San Francisco.
Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) opposed the nomination of Edward Chen.
