E-Blast
2nd Annual Day of Prayer for Catholic Radio
The apostolate of Catholic radio is facing incredible opportunities for
growth. A buyer's market for radio stations, NCE FM permits being
issued and built, and a new Low Power FM window on the horizon. How do
we get over the hurdles to best take advantage of these opportunities as
stewards of God's work of Catholic radio? Pray!
As St. Paul reminded the Ephesians, we contend not merely with flesh and
blood, but with "Principalities and Powers". God alone can faithfully
guide and protect us to accomplish His will.
On Saturday, August 14, 2010, the Feast of St. Maximillian Kolbe, join
in communion with others in Catholic radio to pray for God's wisdom and
protection.
The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate (whose patron is St. Maximillian
Kolbe, an ardent user of Catholic radio) will be adding their prayers to
yours and those of your listeners. Mass will be offered by the Friars
at their Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel in Griswold, CT.
Bishop Michael Sheridan, Chairman of the CRA's Episcopal Advisory Board,
has recorded a Prayer for Catholic Radio, which will air via Ave Maria
Radio, EWTN, and Relevant Radio during some of the breaks on the 14th.
Please contact your respective network for times. Special thanks to
Thomas Neal of WCVC AM 1330 in Tallahassee, FL who composed the prayer.
Bishop Sheridan is available for a limited number of interviews. Please
contact his office at 719-636-2345 to schedule.
You may wish to promote and hold prayers times at your station during
the day, interview local pastors and ask local pastors to remember
Catholic radio in the Mass intentions that day. Use the Catholic Radio
Association group on Linkedin <http://www.linkedin.com> to share what
you are doing and ask questions of your fellow Catholic broadcaster or
programmer.
We look forward to this time of unity in prayer. May God grant us His
wisdom and protection for His glory and the salvation of all!
Ad maximam Dei gloriam!

Prayer for Catholic Radio
God our Father, we humbly seek your all-powerful blessing on the work we
have begun and ask you to bring it to completion. Give success to the
work of our hands.
Lord Jesus, we seek your blessing on this radio station and ask you to
consecrate it to the bold proclamation of your living Word, proclaimed
in the midst of your One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. Guard us
from the evil one and from all those who would sow destruction or
despair. Keep us in communion of mind and heart with our Pope and
Bishops, upon whom we invoke your mercy.
Spirit of God, rain upon our labors your sevenfold gifts that we may
make known in truth and love the voice of Jesus. Keep us ever-faithful
to your inspirations, always open to the Truth, and never allow us to be
conquered by pride. Create unity in our work and broadcast through us
the seeds of the Word. Make us instruments of reconciliation among all
your people, and of genuine renewal and reform.
Mother of the Word incarnate, remember this work as you come into the
presence of your Son. Help us to remain humble in the image of your own
heart, and guide us to the Heart of your Son. Protect us from all evil
and bring to us the God of Life whom you bore in your womb and nursed at
your breast. Help us to proclaim the greatness of the Lord and to
ever-rejoice in God our Savior.
May the offering of our service and the prayer of the blessed Archangel
Gabriel, patron of radio broadcasting, be acceptable in your sight, O
Lord.
Lord, show us your mercy and love and grant us your salvation.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was
in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.
