[Apologetics] RE: Mormons "Lying for the Lord"

Last night on C-SPAN radio, I heard some liberal woman Mormon, who had
previously run for something as a Democrat, say that people (I think she
means members of her party) did not believe her when she said she was
pro-choice. It didn't help her that she had 7 children, but her point
was that choice means choosing and this was her choice.

I know nothing else about her, but I'm guessing she lost the Democratic
nomination to someone who was a more believable liberal.

That brings me to Mitt Romney. I read recently where some evangelical
Christian say the problem with Romney is not that he is a Mormon, but
that he's not Mormon enough, i.e. his once-upon-a-time support for
abortion rights and homosexual rights. I don't think real Mormons would
be for those things.

On the other hand, I read something else recently that actual Mormon
theology is not as pro-life and anti-homosexual rights as you might
think. So this pro-abortion Mormon woman may have been a perfectly good
Mormon.

I guess now we can expect to be inundated with "exposes" of the Mormons
like
this. First comment to the article is interesting. Didn't bother going
further than that.

Interestingly, and no doubt because the Mormons are perceived as such a
"conservative" church, polls show that there is more "anti-Mormon"
sentiment
on the Left than on the Right--if you define "anti-Mormon" as people who
say
they will not vote for a candidate because he is a Mormon. Diversity
goes
only so far, I guess. Everything in moderation.
