The Alcove at Elm Crossing,
Well, we are gradually getting our heads out from under the very,
very busy time, and getting into only the very busy time. Time enough,
anyway, to write this note.
"The Education of Hyman Kaplan" went very well, even given little
sleep during that period. The last activity for that (the cast party)
was Monday, and I'm practically caught up on rest, not feeling
particularly groggy. It was enjoyable to conduct something that
substantial, something I trained for at Wheaton, but never did in
reality. God was exceptionally full of grace, filling the orchestra
with excellent musicians, even while I was busy trying to get the house
ready to sell.
Today's the final wedding I've agreed to for the summer. I'll be
making no more commitments for the moment.
Beth did a really good job helping us get ready, but frankly, we
don't see much traffic on our house We're not sure if this is just the
summer doldrums, and we should drop price, or what. It's difficult to
say, and we appreciate prayer in this regard.
Final paperwork on the new house is due, and I had just a lot of fun
trying to coordinate what the closing date is. I think it's covered
now. Many thanks to those family members who've helped in this regard
as well.
We're kindof wondering how best to move into the new house. It's
best not to leave this house empty, but yet, we'd have to have enough of
our stuff to start living there. So we're kindof in limbo on that too.
sigh.
Still, we're trying for an eternal perspective here. I pointed out
to Jacqui that Elm Crossing and Oaker will burn up when God destroys
this earth by fire and creates a new heaven and a new earth. I don't
think Jacqui appreciated that comment much, and she's been rather down
and depressed. I'm thinking of sending her down to Springfield, while
we have a few days. Saves on house cleanup too.
We are very glad to hear about Mom's surgery, and the apparent
success, and are very concerned about Uncle Eli.
In short, there's plenty to raise our hands in thankfulness, and
plenty to stay on our knees about. Thanks for prayers on our behalf.
