The Jerusalem Prayer List - July 12 2007
by Joseph Shulam
Most of the time prayer is our only option. It is non-the-less a very real option that is more powerful than some actions that we could take ourselves. Israel is in many ways a spiritual desert when
it comes to the issues of a proper functional community. There are so many wonderful brothers and sisters who live in the perifery or on some Kibbutz on top of the Golan Heights and even though they
long for fellowship they have such a hard time finding it. I see these faithful brothers and sisters as a kind of a situation of "dancing with wolves." These lone brothers and sisters who are far
from the centers of population and the centers of Messianic Jewish activity are usually the "salt of the Earth" kind and they need our prayer and encouragement. There are some single mothers out
there who need fellowship and a home study group and there is none of these "luxuries" near them. There are families with one of the members of the family as a disciple of Yeshua and the rest of the
family is hostile to faith in Yeshua as the Messiah. These families need fellowship and seminars. There are idividuals who have given their life to the Lord, but who have been walking alone the
lonsome valley because there is no one to walked with them other than the Lord Himself. When I see these people up on the Golan Heights and down in the Negev Desert and in the suburbs of Tel-Aviv - I
say to myself - these are real heroes of faith. Some time when Netivyah makes an open seminar several of these brothers and sisters from all around the country come and spend a week-end in
fellowship. Often after a successful weekend in a seminar we don't even feel like parting and leaving the fellowship and the brothers and sisters and the time of sharing and prayer together. It is
such a sweet savor to God when brothers and sisters can have honest and sincere open hearted exchange of faith and graceful and tender fellowship. In the regular church services today it is not so
possible to have real open and honest fellowship because every one is in a hurry and also the setting is not conducive to such an exchange. People are going to church today and when the church
services are over often one of the main thing on their mind is to get to the Cafeteria or Restaurant before the Baptist get there.
We do two or three times per year a seminar that is nation-wide and we have now scheduled one such seminar in the first week of September. The topic of this next seminar will be "spirituality in the
Jewish home!" It will all be in Hebrew and on that same week-end we have a Bar-Mitzvah of a very fine and talented young man who will at the same time have completed the thireenth year of his life.
it is these seminar events there is a collection of all those brothers and sisters from the land over that meet and talk and have good fellowship once or twice per year. We all need to pray for the
number of congregations in Israel to increase and proper leadership to emerge from among the youth of the congregations that will take this move of God's Spirit into the next stage and even the next
generation.
We have two sets of guests with us this week. We have two wonderful guests from Dallas, Texas, who have come to help us make our work in the office more efficient and productive. We also have two
wonderful guests from Japan who have come to study and help organize a special seminar for leaders from Israel and Japan for next spring. It is so great and wonderful to see international cooperation
concentrated to bless Israel and the Jewish Disciples of Yeshua.
The status of the hearing on the building and zoning licesens in City Hall is that the committee dicided not to dicide for now and to discuss is again in conclave. We have cast our hope upon the Lord
and that is why we ask you to pray for us. We have no desire to bring harm to the people of Israel. WE have no desire to take Jews outside of their Jewish heritage and make them into Protestants or
anything other than disciples of Yeshua. The objections against us were not relevant to the building program or to the regulations. We are not going to recieve any answer that is less than "Yes" and
"Amen" and we shall continue to fight this battle even if we have to take it up to the hight court of justice. So, please stay with us and pray with us and help us becuase these legal issues are
eventually at the heart of the Israeli democracy and at the heart of our civil rights and status in this land.
We are still praying for the following brothers and sisters who are sick: Marcia, Ruby, Oren, Kemi, Zvi, Sara, Paavali, Ahuva, Lea, Liora. We trust that you too will mention the names of these
precious brothers and sisters who are suffering from physical illness and ask the Lord to heal them.
We are praying for the many believers in Israel who are alone and without fellowship. We are praying for those believers who live far from congregations and gatherings to find venues for connection
and fellowship.
We pray for a blessing upon all those who are supporting Netivyah in prayer and financially. May the Lord bless you and give you all that you need and more so that you can continue to bless Israel
and bless Netivyah.
In Him we are One and in the One we are all His special children,
Joseph Shulam
