Dear Family,
Well, I have done it. My old EZ-GO golf cart gave up the ghost a couple of days ago and in order to get it up and going again, I would need a new speed control $700, new set of batteries $700,, brakes $? etc, etc, etc. Sooooo with the advice of the local family members, I decided that I really need to have a vehicle here to go from the garage to the barns which are located way down below the house and to go around the property on my local roads to work on the place. This lumbar spinal stinosis stuff really limits me in walking and climbing hills. Fortunately, we have a local golf cart place here in El Cajon and Anne, Anita, Beth, Nate and myself went there to look at what to replace my existing system with. My old cart is over 15 years old and is used every day around here. Well we looked at some used models which looked pretty good however, we couldn't find the bed dimensions that we would really like. I really wanted an electric one so I don't have to buy fuel for it but rather plug it into my solar system. I find out that there are low speed street legal vehicles which if electric qualify for federal tax credit. Well, we all fell in love with the one posted in the attached pdf file and bought it! It is to be delivered to the property momentarily and they will take the old cart away. As you can see from the pdf, being street legal it has a lot of features like turning signals, seat belts, and lights and horn as well as regenerative braking! In addition it has fittings for a trailer hitch and a towing capacity of 1100 pounds and a load weight for the bed of 400#. Well anyway, I am anxiously awaiting the sight of the lsv coming here. And it has a range of 38 miles which is adequate for local low speed driving etc.
A couple of other things of interest to you all is that Rachel and I have signed up for German 120 at a local junior college. I need to transport her back and forth and instead of sitting in the car waiting for her, We will both be students together and be able to discuss the class going back and forth in German. It has been 54 years since I studied German and I definitely need a refresher. Anne will stay at the McClatchie house while Rachel and I are away.
Also Loose Creek Rd has had a new topping to help the cracks etc. and now being all nice and black it really looks nice.
Love to you all from an excited Altgrossvater
ps I SEE IT COMING!
