Dear Stu, My heart goes out to both of you. I hope that you will think
about the consequences of an amputation long and hard. It is forever.
Having worked with breaks, wounds and amputations while a nurse at
Marianjoy, none of these are instant recovery. We all wish for a magic
wand that would make all of our hurts go away fast. The recover from an
amputation would be every bit as long as the daily wound care. They have
so many different approaches now, with wonderful results. Go with what
the doctor suggests--after all we go to them because they have the
training and experience that we don't.
I know this is not the way you would like to spend your retirement
time--but we never know why we have been dealt the hand that we get.
There is a plan--we just haven't figured it out. You will be in our
prayers. Not much new here. Aunt Eloise is doing fine. John and Glenda
are very happy with their move to Michigan. Janet is holding up well with
Ralph in a nursing home. It will be a year in March. She was so wise to
realize that she just could not take care of him herself. Dick has
developed glaucoma and sees a doctor at Wheaton Eye Clinic in a week or
so. Janet just had surgery on her eye yesterday. Patch, patch, patch.
Please keep in touch--as an earthly family we should stay connected.
Grace
